JDRF Greater Dallas Chapter
The Walk to Cure Diabetes is a grassroots community event that attracts over 25,000 walkers. The event brings family and friends of all ages together to walk for diabetes research and awareness. Participants raise millions of dollars, getting friends, family, business contacts and co-workers to sponsor their participation. Funds are also raised by Corporate Walk Teams through sponsorships, corporate matching and promotional fundraising activities.

Over 3 million Americans have type 1 diabetes, a disease most often diagnosed in childhood that strikes suddenly, lasts a lifetime, and carries the constant threat of deadly complications, including heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, and amputation. JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Thanks to dramatic research progress, a cure is possible.
The 2009 JDRF / Dr Pepper Snapple Group Walks to Cure are held on Saturday, September 26th at three locations: Victory Park @ American Airlines Center, Plano/Frisco at Granite Park and Irving (Las Colinas) at Campion Trails.
Facebook & JDRF
JDRF has teamed up with Facebook to make an application that will allow your social networking pals to become your Walk donors! Reach new (and old) friends like never before!
Families everywhere take an extra step at getting others involved in sharing the Walk experience. Local Dallas Chapter family teams have put together videos sharing their stories of diabetes diagnosis and the struggles they face daily when living with type 1 diabetes.
